The President's
Thoughts
We’ve had a great summer:
The money we made on the Garage Sale in July (over $800!) will
help fund many of our activities over the next year, and
The Summer Social at the Hartsough’s gave us a chance to relax
and get to know each other better.
But now it’s time to start thinking about the election this November. We
will have a number of candidate forums in October, so you will
have a chance to meet the candidates face-to-face. If you have any
specific questions you would like candidates to answer, contact Susie
Penhollow, as she will be coordinating the question lists. We will also
get our ever-popular Voters’ Guides in early October, so be
prepared for our usual distribution process. We will also be holding an
informational meeting on the numerous ballot measures which will
appear on the November ballot. There will also be some bond measures
on the ballot, a repeat of the Sheriff’s Permanent Funding Districts
proposal, and last, BUT NOT LEAST, a proposal for a Home Rule
Charter form of government for Deschutes County. There will be lots
to do in a short period of time, and I hope you will help where you can.
Contact Susie Penhollow if you can help at the candidate forums or with
the distribution of the Voters’ Guides.
LWVOR FALL WORKSHOP: It’s time once again for the State League
Fall Workshop on Saturday, September 30 in Eugene. It’s usually an
informative workshop and this year is no exception. There is information
and a registration form included in this Cascade Echoes. [more
...] We usually have a few people who attend and ride over together
on the same day. If you are interested in attending, please let me know
so that we can coordinate travel. See you soon.
