The President's
Message
As I write this, it’s 60 degrees outside
and I can’t believe it’s still February! I’m sure we’ll make up for it
in March somehow.
E-mail Cascade Echoes: We’re investigating the possibility of sending
out our Cascade Echoes Newsletter by e-mail to those who would like to
receive it that way. I receive a number of newsletters from other
leagues in the state that do it by e-mail and have had good membership
response. It’s more economical as well as more timely, but don’t worry,
we’ll still mail paper copies to members who wish to receive them.
Upcoming State Convention: The site of the 2007 LWOR Convention will be
at McMenamin’s Edgefield in Troutdale on May 18-20. An exciting lineup
of speakers, workshops and activities is being planned. If you are
interested in attending as a delegate or an observer, contact me at
jablum@communitybroadband.com or 389-6990 (p.m. only please)
ASAP, as reservations at this special location will need to be made
soon.
LWV Tote Bags: Some LWV tote bags are still available. If you are
interested, contact Dalyte Hartsough at 322-0469 or
dhart@bendcable.com.
Legislative Report: For those of you who are receiving the LWVOR Action
Committee Legislative Report, I hope you have found the publication
informative and useful. It gives a lot more information on issues of
concern to League members than you will find in the newspaper. If you
aren’t receiving this publication, you can subscribe by sending an
e-mail to the LWVOR office
(lwvor@lwvor.org). An e-mail subscription is FREE!! It is $50 for a
mail subscription (mail check to LWVOR, 1330 12th Street, SE, Suite 200,
Salem, OR 97302)
Annual Meeting Coming Soon! Please save the date of April 26, 2007, to
attend our upcoming annual meeting where we will elect board members and
adopt a budget and program for the next two years. The Nominating
Committee may be contacting you to see if you would like to take a more
active role in the League. I hope you will give it your utmost
consideration. We have some very dedicated leaders on our Board of
Directors right now, but many have been serving for a number of years.
It’s time to get some new members involved. It’s a wonderful opportunity
to make a difference in your community.
Andrea Blum, President LWVDC
