LWVUS INFORMATION CURRENTLY AVAILABLE ON THE WEB

(If you do not have access to the internet and would like a copy of any of this material, please contact one of your board members and we’ll see that you get a copy.)

Useful Civic Education Materials Available (NEW)

Our partner, the Center for Civic Education, has made available a listing of current civic education efforts underway in state legislatures. The Citizenship Education Database, maintained by the National Center for Learning & Citizenship and the Education Commission of the States, is updated every six weeks and includes a complete listing of key civic education policies of each state. Click here to read about the latest statewide efforts to improve civic education in our schools and communities (through March 2007).

Immigration Study News (NEW)

All eight LWVUS Immigration Study committee background papers are now on the LWVUS web site, covering subjects such as impact on the U.S. economy, enforcement issues, motivation and global interdependence as well as an overview of current Federal immigration policy. Leagues are urged to print these articles and distribute them widely in your communities. Please remember to credit individual authors for researching and writing the papers, and note that they are members of the LWVUS Immigration Study Committee.

DC Voting Rights Videos on YouTube – Forward to Your Friends and Family (NEW)

The League's DC Voting Rights educational videos can now be found on YouTube, an online public video-sharing Web site. To find the videos, simply go to www.YouTube.com and type "DC voting rights" into the "search" feature. Once you select a video to watch, you can also click "share video" to email it to others. To link to the videos from your own Web site, copy and paste the URL link provided. This tool is an amazing new way to build awareness about the over 600,000 DC citizens who lack full voting representation in Congress. Find additional resources at www.lwv.org/DCVotingRights, or contact Robyn Kurland at rkurland@lwv.org.
