Candidates Forums

Save the following dates for Candidates Forums:

Thursday, April 24 (noon at the County Building)

Tuesday, April 29 (noon at the County Building)

Tuesday, May 6 (noon at the County Building) Monday, April 21 (5 pm at the public library)

We don’t know which specific dates we will use yet. That will be determined by when candidates will be available.

Please let Susie Penhollow know if you can help at one or more of these times. No experience is necessary. We could use 6 or more people at each forum. Call Susie at 382-2724 or email at mspenh@bendbroadband.com.

This is a great way to help voters and yourself to learn more about the candidates.

LWVUS Action Center

The national website has a new feature that you may want to check out. At lwv.org go to Action Center and you will be able to see how your national legislators are voting on key issues. This is not a rating or evaluation of the votes, but will give you information on voting records.

Garage Sale

Begin now to save and sort your stuff for a Summer Garage Sale. We hope to have a sale in late June. It takes a lot of people, so plan to help out for a couple of hours during the sale. Many hands make light work.

Mental Health Membership Meeting

There will be a membership meeting on Thursday, March 20th at 10 a.m. at Dolores Ellis’ home to discuss Mental Health issues in Deschutes County. We’ve had First Thursday Luncheon speakers on this issue which has only wetted our appetite and raised additional questions on this topic. Dolores, who is a member of the Deschutes County Mental Health Advisory Committee, has agreed to walk us through the options for the mentally ill in this county. Also, there is new grant money coming to Deschutes County. Come and find out what new programs it will fund.

If you are able to attend this meeting, please contact Dolores at 617-5901 so she will know how many to plan for.
