Media

Newspapers and on-line web sites provide both an opportunity to learn about issues that affect us in many ways.  They often also offer opportunities to express our opinions in public forums.  Local and state media are listed below:

The Bulletin (Bend) is the major newspaper in Central Oregon.  Send letters to the Editor to bulletin@bendbulletin.com.  There is a 250-word limit on letters for publication, but "In My View" articles up to 750 words may also be accepted.

The Source Weekly publishes articles dealing with local issues, arts, sports and entertainment.  Send letters to the Editor to letters@tsweekly.com.  Letters under 600 words are preferred.

The Redmond Spokesman is a weekly newspaper dealing with mostly local issues.  Send letters to the Editor to spokesman@bendnet.com.  Letters should be limited to 300 words.  Opinion articles in the 600 to 700-word range may be accepted for publication.

The Nugget is a weekly published in Sisters that deals with local issues.

Bend.com is an on-line news service that is partnered with the Bend Bugle newspaper.  Bend.com offers registered users opportunities to discuss on-line articles.

The Oregonian is the major newspaper in Oregon and is published in Portland.  Send letters to letters@news.oregonian.com.  Letters are usually limited to 150 words for publication.  There is a maximum of 600 words for opinion pieces.

The Statesman-Journal is another major newspaper in Oregon.  It is published in Salem.  Letters to the Editor may be sent to letters@statesmanjournal.com but are rarely published if sent from addresses outside the Salem area.
